    Just Now
Have you ever considered the impact of your daily habits on the environment? In our fast-paced world, sustainability is no longer an option but a necessity. 🌿 Did you know that adopting a sustainable lifestyle can help us save resources, reduce waste, and even save money? Here are a few simple tips to begin this green journey:

  • Western Waste Dumped in Myanmar, Global Solutions Needed
    yesterday
The trash is the runoff of global plastic production, which has more than doubled since the start of the century to reach 460 million metric tons per year. "In the past, during the rainy season I could pick watercress from this field to eat," one resident told AFP, asking not to be identified for security reasons. "Because of the plastic waste, now we can't get any watercress to eat. Instead, we get a smell."

  • Earth Day initiatives for a Sustainable Future
    yesterday
Each year, on April 22nd we celebrate Earth Day, a tradition started in 1970 to commemorate the achievements of the modern environmental movement. The day also raises awareness of the need to protect the Earth’s natural resources. Over the years, Earth Day has evolved into a worldwide phenomenon that we are happy to be a part of. At Targa we take the environment very seriously. We approach sustainability with a series of ongoing efforts and daily initiatives that are incorporated into our business operations and policies. We firmly believe that even the smallest actions can yield significant results, and it’s through these collective efforts that we strive to effect positive change for our planet.

  • Scientists Call for Global Cap on Plastic Production
    yesterday
Following the United Nations’ decision last month to adopt a global and legally-binding treaty by 2024 to end plastic pollution, and with governmental negotiations on the agreement slated to begin soon, an international group of scientific experts is arguing that such a treaty must cap production of new plastics from fresh feedstocks, and phase them out in the long-term.

  • Changing the world, one plastic bag at a time : Fully Compostable Packaging
    yesterday
More than a decade ago, as software engineer Daphna Nissenbaum was preparing her son’s lunch for school, she found herself feeling very frustrated as she asked again where the day’s previous plastic water bottle was—because she wanted to reuse it. “Some days he would return them to be reused, while other days he wouldn’t,” she recalled about her son. “I said to him ‘we have to think about what we do with our packages.’”

  • Plasticosis: a new disease caused by plastic that is affecting seabirds
    04/01/24
lastic is everywhere, and has become so common that it is impacting the health of animals and people. New research now shows that seabirds are suffering from a plastic-induced illness named 'plasticosis'. A new disease has been described in seabirds, but it might just be the tip of the iceberg.

  • Pollution Disclosures on the Way in California
    03/27/24
California legislators passed a bill Monday night that would force big companies doing business in the state to disclose how much planet-heating carbon dioxide pollution they create. It will be the first mandate of its kind in the nation if it’s signed into law and comes as the SEC drags its heels on a similar federal mandate.
